For Qatar, their AFC Asian Cup 2019 triumph was mostly down to the heroics of one man. Almoez Ali. The striker was lethal during the tournament, and broke several records en route to taking his nation to an unlikely tournament victory.
Ali scored nine goals at the AFC Asian Cup, and broke a long standing record set by Iran’s Ali Daei in the process. His performances in the tournament did not go unnoticed, and as a result the Qatari has received multiple offers.
In fact, he admits it himself in an interview when asked about his future plans, also revealing that the Premier League is his first choice.
An EPL career beckons for Qatar’s Asian Cup star Almoez Ali
“I have received a serious offer from a club playing there”, Almoez Ali said in reference to the Premier League coming calling.
“If the offer meets my expectations and ambitions, yes I will accept it…” he added.
There is serious interest for Almoez and that was confirmed by none other than Jose Mourinho during his time talking on beIN Sport.
“I watched the other two games and I think this boy Almoez is agile. He moves fast (and) he is cool in the face of the keeper,” Mourinho said during the AFC Asian Cup.
“He plays at an interesting level and who knows in the next couple of years, this boy could be playing in another league so that he becomes more competitive. He is young, he is 180cm (in height) and that’s a good size,” he added.
That rousing bit of approval and certified interest from the heavyweights of football means that the future is bright for Qatar’s brightest young talent.
