Ajax, who knocked Juventus out of the Champions League earlier this week, reacted on social media to the Italian giants capturing their eighth consecutive Scudetto.
Ajax posted a congratulatory message to Juventus on social media after the Italian side claimed their eighth Serie A title on the bounce with a 2-1 victory over Fiorentina.
A goal from Alex Sandro and an own goal from German Pezzella, following fine work from Cristiano Ronaldo down the right wing, were enough to hand the bianconeri the Serie A title, having amassed 87 points from 33 games.
Their closest competitors, Napoli, have 67 from 32 games. The 20 point gap opened up with 6 games to play meant that it was mathematically impossible for the Naples side to play catch up, even assuming that Juventus go on to lose all of their remaining games in the season.
Well deserved! 👊

However many fans thought that there was more than meets the eye to Ajax’s congratulatory tweet, coming as it did fresh off the Dutch side impressively eliminating Juventus in the Champions League quarterfinals earlier this week.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal away at the Johann Cryuff arena gave Juventus all to play for with a 1-1 scoreline away from home but the Italian champions succumbed 2-1 to a dazzling Ajax side at Turin, despite the Portuguese marksman being on target again.
