Former AFC Cup 2011 winner Artur Gevorkyan to join Persib Bandung

Persib Bandung have turned to Turkmenistani attacker Artur Gevorkyan to fill the Asian player quota in their squad.

Gervorkyan was pictured undergoing his medicals at the Javenese club with a view to join Persib Bandung, who currently prepare for 2019 season of Liga 1 to kick off after finishing fourth in last year’s competition.

The 34-year old Turkmenistani winger has played 16 times for his country, scoring 3 goals. An official release from the club states that he was brought in to fill the gap of one Asian foreign player for the upcoming 2019 Liga 1 season.

Georkyan has previously won the AFC Cup in 2011 with Uzbekistani team Nasaf Qarshi.

Persib’s official Twitter account postes a series of pictures of Gevorkyan undergoing his medical with a club doctor.

TheyΒ  then put out a tweet that confirmed that the attacker had put pen to paper with the club.

The 34-year old right winger has over 6 years of experience plying his trade in the Uzbekistan Superliga and has made 48 appearances in the league, scoring 9 goals.

He has also managed an impressive return of 5 goals and 3 assists in 23 AFC Champions League matches.
